About Me

Mahmoud Zahra (Safadi) is a Palestinian, born in Jerusalem in 1967. 
He went to school in Jerusalem and became political active at the age of 16. When he turned 22 years old, he got arrested and became detained in the Israeli military occupation prisons for 17,5 years (1989-2006). In prison, he has been interested in arts and politics and obtained a bachelor's degree in political science from the Hebrew Open University during his arrest. After his liberation, he worked at Al-Quds University and received a Master's in Israeli Studies from Al-Quds University. He completed his studies and obtained a PhD in Political Science on European Studies from Ruse University in Bulgaria. After his liberation dedicated his time also to arts and has been participating since in various exhibitions.

Mahmoud Zahra's art is a powerful medium through which he shares his personal experience as a Palestinian living under occupation. His works reflect the collective struggle of his people for freedom and independence. Through his drawings and creations, he aims to raise awareness and foster understanding of the Palestinian narrative.
